We operate in conjunction with three strategic partnerships:

  1. For The Children: With over 200 chapters across the U.S. and globe, For The Children is a nonprofit comprised of a network of local churches trained and dedicated to providing programs that create life-changing moments for children in foster care.

  2. Communion of Saints: We operate as a DBA Royal Family KIDS under their non-profit umbrella and have a Faith & Service agreement between For The Children and Communion of Saints.

  3. El Paso County DHS Child Protective Services: We take social workers to Camp as additional support staff and work with DHS, foster & adopt, and kinship/kinlike providers to get kids to Camp.

CAMP

Camp is a weeklong summer camp for foster children, ages 6 to 12. Camp 2027 will be held June 14-18 (volunteers attend June 13-18). RFK adult volunteers run our Camp week for 64 foster kids each summer.

MENTORING CLUB

Mentoring Club is for RFK Little Campers (who attended Camp the summer before) to be mentored one-to-one by RFK staff from September to May the school year following Camp. Adults are paired one-to-one with kids for mentoring and a mini-Camp experience (Club) once a month.

VOLUNTEER

Each year, we take applications for 80+ adults (18 and older) to serve at Camp. Every full-week volunteer needs to pass high-level background checks and attend 12 hours of training. Each one-day volunteer needs to pass background checks and attend 8 hours of training.

OUR WORK

VOLUNTEER APPS FOR 2027 WILL BE AVAILABLE IN DECEMBER!
18 or older? Interested in volunteering to serve at Royal Family KIDS Colorado Springs Sun-Fri, June 13-18, 2027 (volunteers head up one day before kids)? Mandatory training is April 23 + 24, 2027 for our adult volunteer team.

THE ROYAL FAMILY KIDS COLORADO SPRINGS TEAM consists of volunteers whose desire it is to see foster children - kids who have experience childhood trauma at the hands of their family -  experience safe, healthy adults in a positive environment.

VOLUNTEERING WITH RFK IN 2027

  • 18 and older to apply

  • Complete an application (not publicy listed and only available after passing pre-questionnaire)

  • Chosen applicants attend an in-person interview

  • Pass an FBI background check & fingerprinting

  • Chosen applicants attend mandatory training April 23 (evening) + 24 (all day), 2027

  • Be able to attend all of Camp, June 13-18, 2027.
